Week 2 of the 2025 NFL season starts tonight. Find out what we learned about each team how that will play out in the early but pivotal week 2 matchups.
Washington Commanders at Green Bay Packers
Both teams won their respective matchups easily last week. Jayden Daniels continues to ascend into a D.C. legend, leading his team to a win over Russell Wilson and the lowly New York Giants. Micah Parsons made his Packers debut and impressively chased down Jared Goff the way a lion chases down a gazelle in the wilderness. These two teams are on a collision course to meet in the postseason and we, the lucky fans, get an early season preview of what’s to come in January.
Prediction: Packers’ defense activated the cheat code when they traded for Micah Parsons. Green Bay over Washington, 23-13.
Seattle Seahawks at Pittsburgh Steelers
Aaron Rodgers turned back the clock last week, throwing for 4 touchdowns against a bad New York Jets defense. Mr. Rodgers and company welcome the Seahawks to town, who allowed over 3 yards per carry last week in a loss to the 49ers. Pittsburgh will try to get the ground game going while Sam Darnold leads Seattle to the east coast for what hopes to be their first win on the year.
Prediction: Seahawks get plenty of rest to overcome the time zone change. Aaron Rodgers is reminded how old he is and comes nowhere near his 4-touchdown performance from last week. Seahawks beat the Steelers in a close one, 20-17.
New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins
Our first toilet bowl game of the year is here! Both of these teams are terrible. Mike Vrable is a great coach and will get the Patriots back on track just not this year. As for the Dolphins, Tua being healthy enough to play used to be a win in their book. Now that he has been healthy for some time, they need wins on the scoreboard. They should get one this week.
Prediction: The Miami Dolphins will beat the New England Patriots, final score 17-10. Miami avoids sitting in last place of the division, for now.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Cincinnati Bengals
It’s Joe Burrow time! Not because Ja’Marr Chase gave my fantasy team nothing last week (we don’t expect JC to have 2 bad games in a row, do we?). It’s Joe Burrow time because he is a great quarterback. It’s Joe Burrow time because he saw the performance put on last week by Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. And, if he wants to be in the MVP conversation, it has to start this week against a young (but fiesty) Jags defense.
Prediction: Joe Burrow lets it fly but the defense actually takes front stage in this one. Put Trey Hendrickson down for 2 sacks. Bengals beat the Jaguars, 27-17.
Buffalo Bills at New York Jets
Josh Allen, the reigning league MVP, comes to New Jersey after a thriller of a win over Baltimore last Sunday. The Jets and fellow dual-threat quarterback Justin Fields will challenge Buffalo for the division crown. 2 great offenses and 2 not so great defenses. Should be a good one. Extra butter on my popcorn, please and thank you.
Prediction: The Jets get the win in a shootout against the Bills, winning by a final score of 33-30. Nick Folk gets the Matt Prater treatment.
Los Angeles Rams at Tennessee Titans
Matthew Stafford is still playing?! Just kidding, we love Matt. Just not enough to care what happens here. Titans have a quarterback in Cam Ward but now they need to find receivers who can catch. Probably the easiest dub the Rams get all season.
Prediction: Rams crush the Titans in Tennessee, 24-7.
Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry and the Ravens have been waiting for this game since the last one ended. The Flock desperately need to get the bad taste of Buffalo out of their mouth. No better way than to beat up on the Browns and their 100-year-old former quarterback Joe Flacco, right? Okay, Flacco is not 100 years old. But both of these teams DO need a win to avoid going 0-2. Nothing is better than an AFC North matchup in September. However, this should go Baltimore’s way.
Prediction: Ravens handle the visiting Browns handily, 28-10. Shedeur Sanders is shown during the broadcast at least 10 times.
San Fransico 49ers at New Orleans Saints
Christian McCaffrey is dealing with a calf injury. George Kittle is injured and will miss significant time. Brock Purdy is unsure to play meaning backup quarterback Mac Jones likely gets the start. Also, San Fransico is looking for a new kicker after cutting Moody. Somehow, some way, the Saints still lose this game at home.
Prediction: 49ers overcome a poor performance. Luckily, it was against the Saints. 49ers win by a score of 20-10.
New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys
When Russell Wilson signed with the Giants in the offseason, no one was a bigger fan of the move than me. After leaving Denver, Wilson signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers and it started of great. Russell showed he still had the ability to lead an NFL team. Although it did not end quite as well as it started, it gave Giants fan hope coming into the season; Moon balls to Malik Nabers all day is what was expected. In week 1, we did not get moon ball Russell Wilson. We got the Denver Broncos Russell Wilson; unable to get the ball downfield and at times appeared lost. Want the good news? The Giants face a Micah Parsons-less Dallas defense that struggled to contain a Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense a week ago.
Prediction: Russell Wilson goes crazy on the Cowboys defense in Jerry World. Delays calls for Jaxson Dart to start for at least another week. Giants edge the Cowboys, 17-14.
Chicago Bears at Detroit Lions
I just got done watching Lions coach Dan Campbell weekly press conference. If the Lions are as fired up as MCDC was standing behind that podium, the Bears don’t stand a chance. I like Caleb Williams. I like the Bears. Just not this week.
Prediction: The Lions get back to 2024 form, pushing the ball the up field with big plays. The Bears fight back to keep it close, it’s just not enough. Detroit bests Chicago, 27-20.
Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts
Daniel Jones had one good season as starting quarterback with the New York Giants. Daniel Jones has had one good game as starting quarterback with the Indianapolis Colts. The Denver Broncos arguably have the best defense in the NFL. Daniel Jones is due for a bad game. Consider this to be that game. The end.
Prediction: Broncos bursts the Colts bubble, win at Indy, final score, 24-9.
Carolina Panthers at Arizona Cardinals
Dear Kyler Murray, last week my fantasy team beat the crap out of my opponent all because of you. I had Jalen Hurts on my bench (final fantasy score of 99 points). I thought I messed up. You proved me wrong. I will never doubt you again, Kyler Murray. At least not this week.

Prediction: The Panthers are bad. Very bad. The Cardinals are better. Arizona over Carolina, final score 30-13.
Philadelphia Eagles at Kansas City Chiefs
Travis Kelce via his podcast with brother Jason Kelce, New Heights, says the Chiefs game against the Eagles is not a Super Bowl rematch. However, the Eagles and the Chiefs game tape from week 1 look awfully similar to what we saw in that Super Bowl. Kansas City was destroyed by the Eagles in the Super Bowl LIX, wayyy before Kendrick Lamar and SZA hit the halftime stage. Based off how both these teams looked last week, I expect a very similar result.
Prediction: All of the stars show up for this one, even Jalen Carter (served a one game suspension last week against Dallas). Mahomes, Jones, Hurts, Barkley and Brown show out. Chiefs Kingdom is loud but it’s not enough. Eagles Beat the Chiefs, final score 30-21.
Atlanta Falcons at Minnesota Vikings
After 3 quarters of questionable football, J.J. McCarthy and the Vikings came alive in the 4th in their comeback win over the Bears on Monday night. Kevin O’Connell is already working his magic to repeat Coach of the Year honors while Raheem Morris is trying to get his first with a second-year quarterback. This game will be a rematch of the 2024 College Football National Championship quarterbacks. Just a reminder, McCarthy and my Michigan Wolverines won convincingly over Michael Penix Jr. and the Washington Huskies.
Prediction: Expect the same result as the 2024 National Championship: McCarthy over Penix. Falcons keep it close though. Final score, Vikings 20, Falcons 17.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Houston Texans
The Houston Texans have been frustrating to watch. So much talent, so little production. C.J. Stroud has struggled since his the start of last season. This Monday, the struggle continues against a loaded Tampa Bay defense. Not to mention, the other quarterback (Baker Mayfield) is really good, too.
Prediction: Tampa Bay runs all over the Texans in Houston. Bucs win, final score 20-13.
Los Angeles Chargers at Las Vegas Raiders
The Silver and Black is back! New quarterback, new coach, new attitude. Last week, Pete Carroll officially became the oldest coach to ever coach and win a game in the NFL (73-years-young). He and the Raiders face the Chargers, a division foe, hot off a big win in Brazil against the Chiefs. I love Jim Harbaugh and what he has done with this Chargers team in such a short period of time. But I expect the energy spent and the jet lag to kick in for Justin Herbert and company.
Prediction: Raiders edge the Chargers in a Monday night battle to remember. Raiders win, final score 21-17.
